The Below flowchart explains the work flow of the ETD in the Vireo System of ETD Management

An ETD can be set to the following states while it is in the system:
Entered - Student has uploaded document but hasn't clicked final SUBMIT on the Confirm & Submit step of the Student Submission interface.
Submitted - The thesis or dissertation has been submitted in the workflow and is ready for the thesis office.
Under Review - Once a thesis office staff member has claimed or been assigned the thesis or dissertation, it goes to Under Review status.
Approved - If staff decides that the thesis or dissertation meets all standards and all requirements outside the Vireo system are met (all forms signed and fees paid, etc.), the ETD can be Approved.
Needs Corrections - If staff decides that the thesis or dissertation does not meet all standards, it is given a status of Needs Corrections and goes back to the student for revision and resubmission.
Pending Publication - If an Approved ETD does not need to be held/embargoed, it can be set to Pending Publication. This lets the staff responsible for publishing ETDs (possibly library staff, depending on institutional policies and workflows) that it is ready to be published.
On Hold - If an Approved ETD needs to be embargoed, its status is set to ON HOLD. From this point, the thesis office or library must set policy to periodically validate the embargo and decide whether it should be kept on hold or be made ready for publication.
Published - An ETD that is Pending Publication, once reviewed by the publisher, can have its status set to Publish. This makes the ETD available for harvesting and publication in the institutional repository.(In Vireo 1.0.1, setting the status to PUBLISH will automatically deposit the ETD in the designated institutional repository.)
Withdrawn - If, for any reason, it is discovered that an ETD should not have been published, its status can be set to Withdrawn.
Cancelled - Any time prior to its status being set to APPROVED, an ETD submission can be cancelled.
